Parasite wood is a rare natural wood formation that develops in tropical trees when a parasitic plant (similar to mistletoe) grows into them. As the tree responds to this intrusion, it forms twisted growths that create stunning organic shapes resembling flowers or mushroom like formations. Despite its name, parasite wood is not a separate tree species.

Balinese artisans transform these natural formations into one of a kind works of art. They carefully hand carve around the natural structure, preserving the natural formations while adding detailed figures or sculptures. In many pieces, the base remains the natural parasite wood formation, while the carved sculpture is created by another type of wood.

The wood is typically collected from fallen or damaged trees, making each piece sustainably sourced and eco-friendly.
